Pretesting closes soon!

The fall pretesting window closes on September 24, 2021. Pretests are recognized by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) as a method to help document student gain from beginning to the end-of-course. CETE is offering pretests as Category B (ODE-Approved Vendor) for this year (Student Gain and High-Quality Student Data).

NO pretesting for Health Science

We want to remind you that there is no pretesting available for any Health Science courses including Medical Terminology in the 2021-2022 school year, which has an impact on the Business, Agriculture, and Law and Public Safety career fields. These new item banks will be field testing this year. Please email us at support@webxam.org if you have questions regarding this.

Why Pretests are Important

Post Testing opens in October

On October 11, 2021, WebXam will release all available practice tests, posttests, and field tests. This date also marks the opening of the teacher effectiveness window for districts using pre and post tests for student gain measurements.

Teachers and administrators are encouraged to reference the FY21 and FY22 Assessment Matrix on ODE's website for guidance on which tests are available for your courses. WebXam's also offers additional information about each test and links to course outlines and test blueprints on the about the tests page.

Be sure to have your student rosters uploaded to WebXam and ready to go before the testing window officially opens. Review the roster uploads page to learn more.

2021 WebXam User's Workshop

Are you new to WebXam? You should join us for our annual User's Workshop, which will be held on October 12. If you are a new teacher or administrator, it's a great opportunity to learn more about using WebXam, the test development process, and the science behind testing. We are determining whether this event will be in-person or virtual; either way, we hope you can attend. More information, about the event will be posted on the WebXam User's Workshop webpage in the coming days.

Performance Assessments

Baking and Pastry Arts will be field testing performance assessments in the 2021-2022 school year, starting October 11th. This process will require students to demonstrate hands-on skill for their subject matter with a checklist and rating scale used to evaluate student performance.

We are actively recruiting for item-writing for Transportation Systems, which is set to start in October. If you are an instructor for this career field in any of the courses, we need you to help us write new items for new course tests. After a great year with virtual item-writing workshops in Health Science, CETE is going to continue with the virtual format for Transportation Systems using Zoom. Why VIRTUAL? Transportation Systems Blueprint Planning Survey

As part of this planning process for item writing workshops, we ask instructors in Transportation Systems to provide us with input on which content standards are more important for each course. Due to University policies, there is a limited number of spaces available and they are currently only scheduled through December. All University protocols must be followed for participation. Test Security Rulebook

The start of a new school year is a great time to review policies and procedures. Be sure to familiarize yourself and any new teachers in your school with the WebXam Test Security Rulebook. Teachers and administrators who access the WebXam website to administrate or deliver tests are required to agree to the WebXam User Agreement, which includes acceptance of the revised Test Security Rulebook. Users will be prompted to confirm acceptance of these policies the first time they access WebXam each school year. The Test Security Rulebook can be found below.
